ALLERGIES CAN SHRINK YOUR WORLD

Open the windows.
Meet the dog.
Enjoy the season.

Allergy symptoms can disrupt sleep, focus, exercise, work, family time, and the simple pleasure of being outside. Temporary symptom control has a place, but first, it helps to know what your immune system may be reacting to.

At Restoration, the process begins with your story: when symptoms began, where they appear, what makes them better or worse, and how much they are changing your life.

COULD THIS BE ALLERGY?

Your body leaves clues.

Choose the area that feels most familiar. This is not a diagnosis. It is a better starting point for the conversation.

FOLLOW YOUR PATTERN

When breathing feels like work.

Sneezing, a runny or blocked nose, post-nasal drip, sinus pressure, or symptoms that return with certain seasons or spaces can all help build the pattern.

VISIT ONE · THE ASSESSMENT

We begin before
the test begins.

A useful allergy evaluation is more than a panel. Your provider connects symptoms, timing, exposures, medical history, medications, family history, home and work environments, previous reactions, and what you have already tried.

  1. 01Your symptom timelineWhat happens, when it happens, how long it lasts, and what changes it.
  2. 02Your exposure mapSeasons, pets, dust, mold, foods, work, travel, products, and indoor spaces.
  3. 03Your health pictureAsthma, skin symptoms, sinus issues, medications, previous testing, and reaction history.

TEST WITH A PURPOSE

Two ways to look.
One whole picture.

Your provider chooses and interprets testing in context. A positive result can show sensitization, but your symptoms and exposure history help determine whether it is clinically meaningful.

Skin-prick allergy testing on an arm
01 · SKIN-PRICK TESTING

Watch the skin respond.

Small amounts of selected allergens are introduced at the skin surface and observed for a localized response. It is quick, minimally invasive, and chosen around your history.

02 · BLOOD IgE TESTING

Measure specific antibodies.

A blood sample can measure allergen-specific IgE when blood testing is the more appropriate route.

THE WORD YOU MAY BE LOOKING FOR

AIT. Allergy
immunotherapy.

AIT is the umbrella term for treatment designed to gradually reduce sensitivity to specific allergens. The format depends on the allergen, your history, clinical judgment, and the plan prescribed for you.

SLIT
Sublingual immunotherapyTablets or prescribed drops placed under the tongue. RHC describes a take-home immunotherapy pathway for appropriate patients.
SCIT
Subcutaneous immunotherapyAllergy shots given in a clinical setting on a structured build-up and maintenance schedule.
DIT?
Probably AIT or SLIT“DIT” is not the standard acronym used for the common allergy-immunotherapy pathways described here.

FROM INFORMATION TO A PLAN

Teach the immune system.
One controlled step at a time.

Immunotherapy is not an instant fix. It is a structured, individualized process with gradual dosing and clinical follow-up. Explore the four phases.

01IDENTIFY

Test the right question

Your history guides targeted skin-prick or blood IgE testing. Results are interpreted alongside your real-world symptoms because a test result is one clue, not the whole diagnosis.

TAKE-HOME CARE · WHEN APPROPRIATE

Treatment that can
live with your life.

For patients prescribed a take-home sublingual pathway, the clinic visit is only the beginning. You leave with clear instructions for how to take it, what to watch for, and when to contact the team.

CARE BEYOND THE FORMULA

Know the trigger.
Change the day.

ENVIRONMENT

Reduce the exposures that matter.

Practical changes for pollen, pets, dust, mold, or other identified triggers, without trying to eliminate your entire life.

SYMPTOM SUPPORT

Use relief strategically.

Your plan may include appropriate symptom-management options while longer-term strategies take shape.

FOLLOW-UP

Let the plan evolve.

Changes in symptoms, seasons, health, medication, pregnancy, asthma, or reactions should be discussed with your provider.

WHEN ALLERGY BECOMES AN EMERGENCY

Trouble breathing, throat or tongue swelling, faintness, or a rapidly worsening multi-system reaction can be signs of anaphylaxis. Use prescribed epinephrine if available and call 911. This page is not emergency care.

CLEAR QUESTIONS. CLEAR ANSWERS.

Before you begin.

What happens at the first appointment?+

Your provider reviews your symptoms, timeline, exposures, health history, medications, previous reactions, and goals, then determines whether testing is appropriate and which type may be most useful.

Can you test food and environmental allergies the same way?+

Not necessarily. Different concerns require different evaluation pathways, and a positive sensitization test does not always mean a clinical allergy. Your history and the type of reaction guide the work-up.

Will I automatically receive immunotherapy?+

No. Testing does not automatically lead to treatment. Your provider reviews the results with your symptoms, discusses options, and recommends immunotherapy only when clinically appropriate.

Is take-home immunotherapy the same as allergy shots?+

No. Sublingual immunotherapy is taken under the tongue; subcutaneous immunotherapy is given by injection in a clinical setting. Your prescribed format and safety instructions depend on your individual plan.

How quickly does it work?+

Immunotherapy is a gradual process, and response varies. Your provider will explain the expected schedule, what progress may look like, and how follow-up decisions are made.
